Preposition in Grammar

The Preposition

A Preposition is a word, which is placed before the a Noun to show the relation in which the person or things denoted by the Noun stands to something else.

Example

  1. We walked round the lake.

  2. The famous park is behind the statue.

  3. We watch our school bus at 7 A.M.

Preposition show a relation between a Noun or Pronoun and another word in the sentence. They are usually placed before a Noun or Pronoun.

Example:

  1. My father bought this house in 1986.

  2. The final watch was on Saturday.

  3. This accident happened on Tuesday night.

  4. The train arrived on time.

  5. The new mall will open in six days.
